Class 2

Our mornings are focused on Languages, Literacy and Communication(LLC), Mathematics and Numeracy.

Allowing our afternoons to be filled with the remaining areas of learning experiences – Health and Wellbeing, Humanities, Expressive Arts, Science and Technology. Where possible, we make the most of our fantastic outdoor areas and take lessons outside. We also look for opportunities to develop pupils’ digital competency skills.

We encourage pupils to take a leading role in selecting our class topics by using our pupil voice board; recently learning about ‘Animals’, ‘WW2’, and ‘Llanwrtyd Now & Then’, with each topic incorporating visits to relevant places of interest such as museums, farms and local areas of interest.

We also take pupils in Years 2 to 6 attend swimming lessons at Builth Wells on a five week rota throughout each term of the year.

All aspects of class 2 encompass the 4 purposes of ‘Curriculum for Wales’, ensuring our pupils leave us at Year 6 eager to learn and ready for the next chapter in their education!
